Edgar Allen Poe: American Literary Genius or Great American Hack (or Both)?
I hate to tell you but I’m a huge Edgar Allen Poe fan. But whether he’s a genius or a hack is up to people with fancy titles to decide. And whatever they decide has no bearing on whether I like him. Perhaps everyone has moments of genius and moments when they’re churning other people’s ideas through their own thought processes. Maybe that IS genius. Someone seeing something that was ordinary and throughly explored with new eyes.
